In Kensington, Hyde Park offers a beautiful 350 acres for dog walkers with plenty of space to let your dog run free. The park was acquired by Henry VIII from the monks of Westminster Abbey in 1536; he and his court were often to be seen on thundering steeds in the hunt for deer. It remained a private hunting ground until James I came to the throne and permitted limited access. The King appointed a ranger, or keeper, to take charge of the park. It was Charles I who changed the nature of the park completely. He had the Ring (north of the present Serpentine boathouses) created and, in 1637, opened the park to the general public. Furthermore, it holds many special memorials such as the Diana Memorial Fountain and 7th of July Memorial and has many live events each month. Additionally, nearby Holland Park offers an exciting alternative to exercise your dog. The green flag winning park prides its self in leading the way for being as ecological as possible and hosts a series of wonderful events at its Ecological Centre. It also has the fantastic Kyoto garden which was donated by the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce in Japan. Aside from dog walking in the wonderful parks of London, Marcelo is also happy to cat sit, puppy sit or any-animal sit!
